You can see on the displays – not only its default value, Mirage Slim Jim will show you the current water temperature in real time. And not only water, you have an overview of the temperature of milk or anything else.

In addition to the real-time temperature, the Mirage Slim Jim also shows on the lever the current pressure on the stylish dial when making coffee. And when we are at the temperature, you can also set how hot your cups should be when serving. Equally we can be pleased with the ability to adjust the drip height or automatic switch to eco mode during the weekends, respectively your chosen days. Refurbishment of Kees van der Westen Mirage

Kees van der Westen’s coffee machines are considered one of the most outstanding in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure their up & running operating at the highest level. EUROSAM can do this job perfectly, even with older coffee machines, which are many times retired for many people. Of course, with Kees van der Westen’s coffee machines, we can say that they are becoming more valuable over time. In order to keep these older coffee makers running as new as well, we repair and upgrade them. Every such refurbishment is unique as we breathe new life into the old coffee machine. That’s why we decided to write about one of them.

Kees van der Westen Mirage is a charming coffee machine inspired by the E61 thermosphonic system E61, which was implemented in 1961 by the Famous Faema E61. Until then, two boilers were being used, one for coffee, one for steam. Therefore, a thermosphonic system was developed and a high vapor temperature of 125 ° C was used to indirectly heat water for the coffee. Such progress in improving the thermo-syphonic system has not been observed for more than 40 years. In 2001, Kees van der Westen asked: how could we improve head stabilization in head? He turned over temperature set point supply system for preparation. He thought how to improve almost perfect infusion and therefore adjusted the E61 head for his needs and added a large infusion cylinder to the bottom of the head. Now KvdW Mirage has many improvements and working with it is really inspiring.

Since the 2002 coffee machine was one of the first made, it did not contain some modifications. Coffee machine also looked and worked on its age. It was necessary to get rid of dirt, rinse, decalcify and polish everything.

Many copper pipes were cracked. So the coffee machine was very tense and lost pressure. Of course, it cannot be used in such a state. The pipes were welded, descaled and finally polished.

There were wrong electricity treatments that were probably caused by an unprofessional intervention by a technician in the past. The customer wanted the coffee machine to be as similar to the current version of 2018 as possible. He wanted the restrictors on the heat exchanger to change the temperature of each head without having to disassemble the coffee machine. After consulting with experts at Kees van der Westen, we came to a solution. The temperature adjustment was solved by mechanical intervention.

Our customer also demanded pre-infusion chamber under the head, which was sent to us by Kees van der Westen after recommendation, and we also installed a special nozzle on the secret place, which distributes a pressure of 9 bar in front of the head.

The coffee maker had a custom-made wooden cover. The customer required a glass cover in order to see inside the coffee machine. And so at company Kovač, they fired a 12mm glass plate for us. That makes possible to light up the inside of a coffee machine, such design would be absolutely unique.

The customer had a La Cimbali Dosatron coffee machine and La Cimbali grinders before KvdW Mirage, he was very curious whether the promised change in technology would bring changes in the taste of coffee. After assembly, Mirage and Mahlkonig Twin he stated, that he had not yet drank such well-prepared coffee yet. We agreed that this drink should no longer bear a name other than ESPRESSO. Thick, oily, aromatic and full of caffeine.
